Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What foods should I avoid feeding my pet?

A:
  1. Xylitol-containing products (xylitol is an artificial sweetener often found in sugar-free candy and gum);
  2. Chocolate (although some types of chocolate are not as toxic as others, it's safer to keep your pet away from all types of chocolate);
  3. Onions;
  4. Grapes and raisins;
  5. Fatty and fried foods;
  6. Macadamia nuts
  7. Avocados

Q: How much does it cost to have my pet seen?

A: Each case varies on cost depending on the pet and the reason for their visit. Every patient that is scheduled with one of our veterinarians will receive a complete physical exam as well as a recommended treatment plan based on exam findings. The veterinarian or assistant in your appointment will discuss vaccinations, treatment options available, and any possible medication or prevention recommendations. The assistant can create an estimate for the recommended treatment plan following the doctor's examination. General estimates for routine visits are available upon request.

Q: Is a Rabies vaccine required for my pet?

A:  In Michigan, the rabies vaccination is legally required for all dogs over 4 months of age. Cats are not required by law to have a rabies vaccine. It is our policy that a Rabies Vaccine be given unless proof can be provided that the pet is already vaccinated. Cats as of April 1st, 2018 will be required to have a rabies vaccines if 14 weeks of age or older. Dog are required if 12 weeks of age or older. This can also can be at the doctor's discretion.

Q: Can I stop in to pick up medications?

A: We require that prescriptions and prevention refills are requested 24 hours in advance. Special order medications should be requested at least one week in advance due to shipping times. Certain medications may require approval from a doctor, which may take up to 24 hours.
