PREVENTATIVE CARE
At the Animal Wellness Center of White Cloud, we are committed to providing the best care possible for your pet. We believe that the best care starts with annual preventative maintenance. This annual care includes, but is not limited to, yearly vaccine boosters, monthly preventative medicine, and monitoring age-appropriate laboratory results. We offer several different wellness packages for your pet's different life stages, these packages are designed to keep puppies and kittens, adults, and senior patients as healthy and protected as they can be. The wellness programs are designed to cover everything from the basics to recommended necessary maintenance elements of care.
VETERINARY ORTHOPEDIC MANIPULATION
Similar to chiropractic care for humans, Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM) uses an activator to re-establish neuronal communication throughout the nervous system, inducing healing and restoring function. Recommended for preventative care, symptom/pain relief, and maintenance upkeep for pets of all ages, it is a specialty we began offering in recent years. So far, we have seen impressive results.
Owners can set appointments with Laina VanKoevering DC, CVCP, at her discretion and/or availability.
RADIOGRAPHY
Radiographs (x-ray images) allow our veterinarians to view an internal image of their patient's body. X-rays are not used only to see potentially broken bones; they enable the veterinarian to examine a patient's heart, lungs, and abdominal organs. In some cases, radiograph technology is an essential diagnostic tool. This technology may allow the doctor to more quickly and accurately identify illness, injuries, or other medical circumstances invisible from the surface. Therefore, an x-ray may be necessary to provide the doctor with as much information as possible to ensure your pet gets the care required.
The veterinarian you see during an emergency or appointment to address medical concerns may recommend this diagnostic imaging alongside a comprehensive exam.
DIAGNOSTICS
The clinic's in-house laboratory allows our veterinarians to quickly acquire results that provide insight into their patients' conditions. The data from testing enables us to monitor a patient's health, well-being, or diagnosis/recovery more efficiently. It also lets us confirm that a long-term medication or preventative is doing its job. Sending samples to outside labs may take days, and awaiting results can be a nerve-wracking experience for pet owners. In contrast, our laboratory equipment allows us to run tests and receive results in-house within a few minutes. Nevertheless, we may still need to send some samples for outside testing, dependent on various possible factors.
We offer many in-house diagnostic services, including:
Blood work for pre-anesthetic, geriatric, or general health panels; intestinal parasite screenings; and cytology evaluations, including fine needle aspirations and ear cytology.
SURGERY
Our clinic currently has three surgery days per week. Tuesday and Thursday are Dr. Sam's surgery days, while Dr. Paul does his surgeries on Wednesday. We schedule all surgeries for the morning, with most drop-off times scheduled for 8:00 to 8:30 AM. The most common surgeries our doctors perform are spay and neuter procedures. However, our doctors also routinely perform a variety of additional surgeries. These include ocular, aural, exploratory surgery, dental cleanings and extractions, growth/tumor removal, and other procedures. Additionally, Dr. Paul also performs orthopedic surgery.
